Wesley United Methodist Church in Aurora is featuring a absolutely free science camp for young children, ages 4 to 12.

The camp will meet from 5:30 to 8 p.m. Tuesday as a result of Friday, Aug. 9-12, at the church, 14 N. May St.

Camp sessions will open up at 5:30 p.m. with a free dinner.

Right after dinner, volunteers and visitor speakers will check out biology, physics and chemistry pursuits.

Michelle Curiel, Wesley director of children and family, is camp coordinator.

She mentioned, “For chemistry, little ones will accomplish experiments to look at how reactions do the job. They will include things like producing oobleck, a drinking water and cornstarch slime ice product in a bag and elephant’s toothpaste.

For biology, Dr. Abby Curiel, a veterinarian, will train about animals which includes a mouse, rat, bunny, kitten, snake, gecko and puppy.

Small children will master about the animals in a petting and meet up with-and-greet circle.

“What animals need to have to survive and how to consider treatment of them in their natural environment will be explored,” Curiel claimed. “Moreover, Dr. Curiel will demonstrate what veterinarians do to help injured animals.”

On physics evening, children will develop bottle rockets if the temperature is good. If weather conditions is inclement, young ones will make egg drops.

To close the camp, learners and volunteers will celebrate the 7 days with displays of shots and tasks.

The evening will close with dinner, treats and an outdoor science-connected movie.

According to Curiel, the camp originated from requests by young children attending Wesley’s summer time arts camp.

Arts camp dad and mom expressed gratitude for no cost lunches for the duration of a entertaining, harmless and academic 7 days that was no cost.
